                 Like whey, casein is derived from milk.    

Milk contains two types of proteins - casein and whey. Casein is 80% milk protein, while whey is 20%.

Casein protein is slowly digested, while whey protein is digested quickly. This is the important difference between these two more popular supplements.

Like other animal proteins, casein is a complete protein source. This means that it provides all of the essential amino acids your body needs to grow and repair, and it also contains many unique proteins and bioactive compounds, some of which have health benefits.

There are two main forms of casein:

Micellar casein: This is the most popular and slowly digested form.

Casein Hydrolysate: This form is rapidly absorbed from the body.

Casein takes longer to digest than whey protein

Casein is also known to have a slow rate of protein absorption in the gut and this means that it replaces your cells with amino acids at a low level over a long period of time.

A study of the speed of digestion was tested by providing participants with either casein or whey (whey), during which the researchers monitored the blood content of amino acids, specifically the essential amino acids, for seven hours after taking the supplement.

Casein protein is very effective in muscle growth

This supplement has been used by bodybuilders and athletes for decades and like other animal proteins it contains all of the essential amino acids that your body cannot produce naturally. Most importantly, it provides a high amount of lysine, if you only consume a low or moderate amount of protein, casein helps you boost muscle growth simply by increasing your protein intake.

One study compared two groups who consumed casein with one group that consumed whey protein and another who did not. The researchers found that the casein group experienced twice the muscle growth and three times the fat loss compared to the non-protein group, and the casein group also experienced more fat loss than the whey group.

It can also boost muscle mass in the long term by reducing protein breakdown. This process occurs on a daily basis when your body reaches low amounts
